The word guitar is derived from many languages, but is based off the Ancient Greek name kithara. It is classified into two broad categories, acoustic and electric. I find acoustic guitars much harder to play and not that enjoyable, but it does sound very beautiful. My favorite acoustic guitar is the spanish guitar with nylon strings. Acoustic guitars are mainly for like around the campfire type songs, while electric guitars are mainly used in rock bands. I personally like electric guitars because they can be messed around with so much. For example, you can bend the strings as much as possible, you can tune the guitar differently, you can change the noise of it with the amplifier, you can add chaos pads and other stuff to it, etc. The best modern day example of someone who does all of this is Matt Bellamy from the band Muse. As of I know, they are known as the best live performance band in current day. Matt Bellamy is known for messing around with the song and his guitar on the spot, without any practice. He adds chaos pads and many other tech pieces to his guitar and amplifier. The guitar is a great instrument to play but is hard to master. It is applicable in so many places, and is a great instrument to play.
